On Sunday 29th January, every boy in the school planted a tree on the edge of the golf course to create a 175th anniversary copse.
As the Greek proverb said “A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit.” This is the first step in our plans to plant more trees across our campus. We have recently submitted a Woodland Creation Plan to the Forestry Commission for 40 acres of native woodland (26,000 trees!). This will link adjacent woodland and hedgerows creating wildlife corridors in addition to sequestering a significant amount of carbon.
Thanks to Mr Kyle Willis-Stovold, Mr David Anderson and Mr Charlie Herbert for leading the project.
